Dubbing artist Jeyan Mahfi Tözüm (91) filed a criminal complaint against sound artist Belkıs Özener (79) on the allegation that she cost the voiceovers of Yeşilçam films during the program she attended.
Jeyan Mahfi Tözüm, who filed a criminal complaint with the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, said in his statement to the prosecutor: “On September 12, 2019, in the ‘Life Flows By’ program on TRT Istanbul Radio, the presenter Cengiz Tünay said that he gave his voice to all famous women, Yeşilçam films. He said he had an invisible voice. Özener did not deny this and affirmed it. Although there was a voiceover made by me in the background, he did not warn the presenter by saying “This voice is not mine”. I think my material and moral rights have been violated.”

Tözüm’s lawyers also included the following statements in their petition: “Belkıs Özener sang songs in Yeşilçam films, and our client sang the most famous female artists of the period. Belkıs Özener owned both all the songs and our client’s voiceovers in the program. It is seen that Cengiz Tünay misinforms the public, and Özener owns the voiceovers. This is an attack on our client’s copyright. We also demand that our client be rehabilitated and an apology published about him.”
